USM ALUMNUS DR. MUHAMMAD RADZI IS NEW HEALTH DG

Health Director General

PENANG, 26 April 2023 – Heartiest congratulations to our very own alumnus Datuk Dr. Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan, on his recent appointment as the new Health Director-General, effective from 21 April 2023.

Dr. Radzi graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Master of Medicine (MMed) (Internal Disease Medicine) in 1997.

He replaced the long-serving Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah who retired last Friday.

In a statement issued yesterday, Health Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa said, Dr. Radzi was chosen based on his qualifications and extensive experience in the public healthcare service, including as Deputy Director-General of Health (research and technical support).

He has served as head of the medical department at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Kedah, chief medical coordinator in Kedah, and head of Kedah's clinical research centre.

He had also worked as Gastroenterology and Hepatology Services chief and chair the credentialling for the fields between 2013 and 2021.

We wish Dr. Radzi great success in his new job scope and we believe with his experience, knowledge and expertise as well as credibility, he will continue to give his best in ensuring a holistic implementation of the country's health vision and reform agenda, so that the Malaysia Madani society continues to enjoy comprehensive, quality and sustainable health services.
